Slopes of Drumleene
'Slopes of Drumleene' is a look at the connection between the Gaelic landscape and it’s native language.
The project sprang from a found book of Old - Irish Bardic poetry, which contained hand written annotations.
Having read the book, I chose five stanzas that encompassed the books themes and used these as the inspiration for the work.
The images themselves are made in the landscape that the book talks about, and so the two are bound to each other. Language to landscape, and landscape to language. This is an integral aspect I find in most of my work, and a topic which I continually have in the back of my mind.
The final result of the project is fourteen layouts combining the made image and the handwritten english annotations.
